The College of Education and Human Development is actively seeking qualified transfer students who are interested in teacher certification. There is a nation-wide demand for teachers. In particular, we are seeking students interested in the high-need teaching fields: math, science, special education, bilingual, English as a Second Language, and foreign language.
Transfer Admission
To be considered for admission, an applicant should, at the time of application, have a minimum 2.50 GPR on at least 24 hours of graded transferable course work from Tables 1 and 2 of Degree Track B. It is required that at least one math course and two science courses be taken from Table 1 and /or 2 prior to application. Admission to teacher preparation programs at Texas A&M for EC-6 and 4-8 requires a minimum 2.75 GPR. At least a 2.75 is preferred for transfer admission. The college would prefer to see at least 10 hours of Table 1 courses completed. Table 1 includes the following 16 hours of courses:

The College of Education and Human Development evaluates performance in all courses and considers all parts of the application. If you have repeatedly dropped or withdrawn from courses or if you are taking courses that do not apply to the Core Curriculum or your major they will have a negative impact when the application is reviewed. A well-written essay is a student's opportunity to share information and experiences that could indicate success in a particular major. The College of Education and Human Development will not consider any second choice majors.

Transfer Articulation Pilot Program (TAPP)
The Transfer Articulation Pilot Program (TAPP) is designed to create transfer agreements between Texas A&M University and select community colleges in Texas. The process both guarantees admission and simplifies the course selections for students.
The following community colleges participate in the TAPP program:
- Blinn College
- Collin County Community College
- Cy-Fair College
- Del Mar College
- Palo Alto College
- Richland College
- San Antonio College
- San Jacinto College - Central Campus ONLY
- South Texas College
- Tarrant County Community College - Northeast Campus ONLY
TAPP students must meet the following requirements:
- have chosen and completed all requirements from one of the Texas A&M University program specific degree plans with at least 24 credits of transferable course work that satisfies the degree plan (at the time of application) at a participating community college after high school graduation
- have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPR and a minimum 3.0 GPR for all courses attempted from among those listed in the chosen degree plan
- have met all transfer admission requirements (applications, transcripts, fees, deadlines, etc.)
Required paperwork must be completed for the program so it is highly recommmended students meet with Prospective Student Center advisors before applying for transfer admission. Please see an academic advisor at a participating institution, or an admissions counselor at one of our Regional Prospective Student Centers for a complete list of the requirements for TAPP admission.
College of Education & Human Development TAPP degree plans can be found on the Admissions Website.
