    College of Education & Human Development Scholarships

    The College of Education & Human Development provides funds for students meeting the scholarship criteria. Scholarships can be used to pay for tuition, books, and other costs associated with a degree or certification. Scholarships are usually awarded on the basis of academic achievement, financial need, character, citizenship, and availability of funds. Each award is distributed according to criteria established by the donor.

    Houston Teaching Scholarships

    Scholarships are now available for students from Houston who wish to return to Harris County to teach.  Interested students should complete the General University Scholarship Application. Preference will be shown to students interested in teaching in the high-need fields of Math, Science, Special Education, or Bilingual Education.  Transfer students are encouraged to complete their Associates Degree to improve their competitive standing for the award.

    Foundation Excellence Award

    The Foundation Excellence Award is a scholarship created to increase diversity in Texas A&M's undergraduate student body. Each award provides up to $2,000 per year for up to four years. The Texas A&M Foundation is a private, nonprofit corporation that directs fund raising in support of Texas A&M University . Private, independent entities like the foundation legally can consider ethnicity in awarding scholarships.

    Academic Scholarships

    The Office of Honors Programs and Academic Scholarships is dedicated to rewarding and recognizing students who excel in both academics and activities throughout their high school career. Each year through the University Honors Program, over 1,000 high-achieving students are offered generous four-year scholarships. Prestigious scholarships like the President's Endowed, President's Achievement, Academic Achievement, Lechner and McFadden scholarships, along with many others - totaling almost $13 million - will take care of a large portion of your expenses during your college career. And if you are a National Merit Semifinalist, there are other scholarships that may come your way.

    Corps of Cadets Scholarships

    Corps of Cadets scholarships provide financial assistance for cadets and carry no military obligation. Corps scholarships are awarded to prospective cadets based on outstanding academic performance, demonstrated leadership and financial need. The types of Corps scholarships available include the General Rudder Scholarship, Commandants's Leadership Award, Sul Ross/Corps Scholarship and the Meade-Carpenter Emerging Leaders Award.

    Find out if there is an Association of Former Students Club or an Aggie Mom's Club close to your town, then ask them if they are offering any kind of scholarships for future Aggies like yourself!

    The following is a list of scholarship programs not affiliated with the College of Education & Human Development or Texas A&M University . Be sure to check each web page for the most up-to-date information.

    FastWeb provides the most complete source of local scholarships, national scholarships and college-specific scholarships.  Visit FastWeb to gain access to over 1.3 million scholarships.

    Barnabas Outreach Foundation Scholarship

    The Barnabas Outreach Foundation provides scholarships that vary in amount from $1,000 to $2,000.  The foundation also provides an educational enrichment award to defray the costs of activities that promote college preparation and success(i.e., SAT Prep Course). These awards range from $250 - $500.  For more information, visit the Barnabas Outreach Foundation website.

    Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Transfer Scholarship

    Each award covers a portion of educational expenses, including tuition, living expenses, required fees, and books for the final two to three years of the baccalaureate degree. The amount and duration of awards vary by student based on the cost of attendance and the length of the program as well as other scholarships or grants received. The maximum available per student is $30,000 per year. This is the largest scholarship offered in the US to community college transfer students.

    The Siemens Teacher Scholarship

    The Siemens Teacher Scholarship initiative was launched in March 2005 in partnership with the Thurgood Marshall Scholarship Fund and the United Negro College Fund, to encourage minority students to consider careers teaching math and science.  For more information, visit the Siemens Foundation or contact their offices toll free at (877) 822-5233 or foundation.us@siemens.com.

    Hispanic Scholarship Fund

    The Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF) offers $1,000-$2,500 scholarships for students attending the following Texas school districts:

    • Dallas Independent School District/HSF Scholarship
    • Laredo Independent School District
    • Northside Independent School District/HSF Scholarship
    • Rio Grande City Consolidated Independent School District/HSF Scholarship

    Wells Fargo Education Financial Services

    Visit the Web site to fill out a form. They are giving away 250 scholarships in the amount of $1,000. To find out more, visit the Wells Fargo Education Financial Services website. 

    United Negro College Fund

    Since 1985, the UNCF Scholarships and Grants Administration office has awarded in scholarship assistance over $105 million to over 28,000 students enrolled in its 39 member colleges and universities and other HBCUs and majority institutions as well.  For more information, visit the United Negro College Fund.

    Ron Brown Scholarships

    This program provides scholarships for students who demonstrate leadership, community service and is open to students who have interest in any major. This is one of the most prestigious scholarships and it's very competitive!  The deadline to apply is usually in January.  For more information, contact the Ron Brown Foundation.

    Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship

    The foundation awards $6,000 scholarships to about 100 students each year. It's a renewable scholarship and is based on academic merit, leadership, and community service. It's open to all majors. The deadline to apply is March 15.  For additional details contact the Jackie Robinson Foundation.

    Gates Millennium Scholarships

    The Gates Millennium Scholarships promote academic excellence and provide an opportunity for thousands of outstanding students who have significant financial need. The scholarship will cover room, board and tuition for at least 1,000 high school students a year. The deadline to apply is usually in March.  For more information, visit the Gates Millennium Scholarship Program.

    Hispanic College Fund

    The Hispanic College Fund offers several scholarships programs to a variety of students. The deadline to apply is usually in Mid-April.  For more information, visit the Hispanic College Fund site.

    Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation

    The Foundation provides financial assistance in the form of scholarships to deserving sons and daughters of current or former United States Marines. Assistance is also available to deserving sons and daughters of current or former United States Navy Corpsmen, who have served with the United States Marine Corps, in their pursuit of higher education.  For more information, visit the Marine Corps Scholarsip Foundation.

    Coca-Cola Scholarships

    Coca-Cola awards scholarships based on character, personal merit and commitment. Merit is demonstrated through leadership in school, civic and extracurricular activities, academic achievement and motivation to serve and succeed.
