Common Application

When completing the extracurricular section of the common application, keep in mind that you should include information related to both school and non-academic activities.  You can include programs that occur in school such as band, athletics, and student council; but you can also include activities you participate in outside of school.  Examples include church, club sports, and Boy/Girl Scouts. 

When calculating your participation hours, be sure to include travel time, practice time and competition time.  You should give yourself credit for any time used to engage in the activity.  For help with your extracurricular hours, you can use this formula to calculate the correct amount of time per activity. 

Since there is limited space on the common application for your experiences, you can use this spreadsheet to write out your activities, and then submit this as a supplement to your application.  This can be mailed to:
